Diamond District Park Presentation Outline
Durand, Michigan 48429
The 3+ acres of vacant land along Main Street adjacent to downtown in Durand was donated to the City of Durand specifically for use as a park. The property remains undeveloped but is used during Railroad Days, and in the summer for concerts and the Farmers Market.
Tentatively, the plans developed for the Diamond District Park include an amphitheater (crafted out of a donated railroad box car) for educational and entertaining performances, a splash park for children of all ages, picnicking area; a pavilion for a farmers market and outdoor events; a siding for rail car exhibits; a static display of rolling stock, train watching, rails to trails path and a new welcome center to house the Chamber of Commerce (and other organizations).
